Disney Parks has so much to offer children & adults of all ages. But what about when one or more of your children of any age, or anyone in your party has sensory needs to consider?

There are many disabilities that affect the senses differently and each of these can attribute to a need for down-time or quiet time to reclaim ones energy or to just wind down from over-stimulation. Sometimes there are certain triggers that can cause a person's special needs to exacerbate under highly stimulated conditions.
I've designed this guide as a tip sheet for my clients with sensory sensitivities so that they can quickly find attractions that will be within their ever-changing stimuli at any given moment of any day when they visit the greatest place on earth!
These attractions have been categorized based on GREEN, YELLOW, and RED.
GREEN - Mild Stimuli, Self-Paced or Easy On/Off Attractions with minimal effects
YELLOW - Medium Paced Attractions that may require several minutes of non-stop ride interactions or longer shows where you may wish to find a seat by the exit in case of wanting to step out early.
RED - Highly Stimulating attractions that have numerous sensory triggers such as strobes, lighting, temperature changes, water spray, motion sickness triggers, loops, sudden drops, loud triggering sounds,etc.
All Disney Parks offer many ways for visitors with special needs to be accommodated to ensure a great vacation day or week!

*RIDER SWITCH and HOW IT WORKS: If guests in your party don't wish to ride or can't ride an attraction, you don't have to miss out! Sometimes riders don't meet height requirements. Maybe someone has sensory sensitivities and chooses not to participate. Rider Switch allows one person to remain back and wait with those not riding, and then when the 1st group in your party gets off the ride, you switch and the person who waited then gets to go without having to wait in the queue line (the good news, Disney doesn't expect them to miss out on the fun of sharing the experience with the rest of their party, so they sometimes someone in your party will get to ride twice! That's Right! Grab a partner and go! Even if they just got off the ride with "group 1". Here's how it works! 1. Check in with a Cast Member 2. "Is Ride Switch Offered Here?" 3. If Yes, Great! Decide who's going in Group 1 and who will stay back with Group 2. If No, unfortunately not all rides offer ride switch so maybe you'll need to get creative in your itinerary 4. Group 1 heads onto the ride 5. Group 2 hangs back 6. After riding the attraction, Group 1 locates Group 2. Group 1 takes over supervision of the non-riding guests. 7. Group 2 enters and boards the attraction without having to wait in the regular queue a second time. The ride switch entitlement must be validated by a cast member at this time. If the Group 2 rider waited alone with the non-riding guest, they may take one person with them, so maybe someone will be lucky to get to go twice! Hopefully this helps make your experience that much more enjoyable when traveling with those that may not be able to or want to ride.
